B&B Equipment
In 1968 Lenard Beierle and a cousin started Kenasco Corporation located in Prosser Washington. Kenasco manufactured fruit and vegetable equipment. In 1972 Lenard decided to leave due to union issues. B&B Equipment was then established, located in a small old building that had been used as a car repair shop in Prosser. This building was only 1200 square feet and employed two people besides, Lenard and his son Steve after school. Lenard brought seventeen years experience in manufacturing and installation of fruit and vegetable processing equipment, having worked at Flodin Manufacturing in Sunnyside Washington for thirteen years. In 1974 B&B moved to its current location, between Prosser and Grandview Washington. It was only 3000square feet but with 20 acres under it there was always the possibility of expansion. At this time B&B employed at least a dozen fabricators. In 1974 B&B expanded its 3000 square feet to a total of 4620. With this we added a machine shop and a separate equipment storage building. Also, this year brought their first and only Forman, Howard Barrett. Howard had twenty-two years of experience in this field. We are proud to say Howard is still providing his expertise and knowledge at B&B Equipment today. Later in 1978 we expanded again, building a sandblasting/paint building, which added an additional 1120 square feet. By the end of this year we had employed up to twenty-one fabricators and machinists. In 1995 we were fortunate to acquire a new engineer / salesman. Jim Rice brought us over thirty years experience in this field having worked for Flodin and Allen-Kenasco Corporation. Along with Jim,1996 brought us a draftsman / purchasing agent John Haines, he also has over 25 years of experience in the fruit and vegetable processing field. At this time we still have over twenty fabricators, machinist and journeymen. In 2000 we again had an expansion adding over 8700 square feet to our main building. 2002 is keeping B&B Equipment quite busy, with jobs within the state, California, Canada and abroad. |
